New York, NY (March 14, 2006) – The fast-paced action and thrill of downhill skiing will be on display beginning March 22nd when skiing enthusiasts, celebrities, sport figures and legends converge on Vail Mountain in Colorado for the 24th Annual American Ski Classic, the oldest and largest skiing competition and festival of its kind in North America. For the sixth year, DPS Development Co. will be fielding teams for the on-hill events and will be present as a gold-level sponsor.
The exciting alpine skiing action and off-slope festival activities are a perfect fit for sporting lifestyle that DPS promotes through its clubs. In fact, the Snake River Sporting Club hosts heliskiing in the Bridger-Teton National Forest with departures from a helipad on club property. Members at Snake River as well as Turks & Caicos Sporting Club and Greenbrier Sporting Club, all enjoy an intense level of recreation that is the perfect complement to the exclusive lifestyle indulgences that are offered at the Sporting Clubs.
The 2006 American Ski Classic kicks off on March 22 with the Legends Ski Slalom, a head-to-head competition with such names as Franz Klammer, Billy Kidd, Steve Mahre, Picabo Street, Tamara McKinney and Stephan Eberharter. The five-day event includes concerts, dances, dinners and a charity auction.
